My name is Tina Campanella, your 2011-2012 PTA President.  I am excited and honored to be a part of a wonderful PTA full of enthusiastic and dedicated parents and teachers.  We serve the school in many ways throughout the year and we would like to invite YOU to join us - as a PTA member or a volunteer to really be a part of the fun!!

I am often asked, what does the PTA do? Our job is to cooperate with the school staff in ways which enrich and impact the students at Elliott. We plan educational programs for Elliott students and our community throughout the year, and help provide items such as books for the classrooms, recess equipment, CAMP equipment, and supplies for our science lab.  We also fund and coordinate events for Elliott families such as Popsicles in the Park, Family Pizza Night, Watch D.O.G.S Chili Cook-off and a super fun End of Year Celebration in the Park.

As a PTA member, you are more likely to be an informed, involved parent. Research shows that getting involved in your child's education helps him thrive at school. Not only is your child more likely to earn higher grades and stay in school, but according to a study done by the Los Angeles Annenberg Metropolitan Project, the schools themselves get better when parents take an active role. One great way to keep a constant connection to your child's school is to join the PTA. More than ever, it is important for parents to learn ways to keep children safe, trouble free and involved in school. PTA is the best place to gain that knowledge. I look forward to getting to meet and volunteer with each one of you this year. Why the PTA!

Benefits

PTA provides opportunities to meet and to talk with other parents who have the same worries as you. By sharing common concerns, you will feel more empowered to do the tough job of parenting. Being part of PTA results in parental support and makes school involvement easier. You will no longer feel “all alone” in raising your child. PTA also provides educational opportunities. From Local-level parent education meetings to the Texas PTA Annual Convention, PTA encourages learning and the sharing of accomplishments.
